It all started…

…during a time I was questioning every single product I put on my skin. I was expecting. And I realized that almost all products that appear to be natural on the market were actually filled with chemicals. Natural oils were my only saving grace at this time. Post-delivery I decided that it made no sense to go back to a regimen that could potentially be harmful to my child or myself. 

Organic, Personalized & Contemporary

These were the concepts I wanted to reflect to my brand after I completed my aromatherapy certification program in New York. Starting with a simple and clean formulation of high quality organic oils in intelligently designed packaging  giving full control to the consumer. Every person is unique and deserves a unique solution.

It’s not only a body care product

As Fiedler’s Apotheke we believe in  the importance of uniqueness, individuality and empowerment of the contemporary consumer. Fiedler’s Apotheke is not only a brand but a life stance and attitude (Weltanschauung) for those who tend to challenge choices and ask for more. 

Founder interview: Elif Fiedler

1. What inspired you to create your brand and what makes it different to the other ones?

Essential oils have always been a part of my life. But the actual journey of Fiedler’s Apotheke started during a time I was questioning every single product that I put on my skin. I was expecting my first child. And I realized that almost all products that appear to be natural on the market were actually filled with chemicals. Natural oils were my only saving grace at this time. After the birth of my son, I decided that it made no sense to go back to a regimen that could potentially be harmful to my child or myself. 

Based on this experience, I decided to create my own unique cosmetic brand – Fiedler’s Apotheke – that combines two key ideas: (1) All our products are based on 100% organic ingredients and (2) our products can be personalized by the consumer to fit the specific taste and preference. 

We don’t believe that a long list of ingredients necessarily makes a product better. We use simple and organic ingredients to make uncomplicated, natural products that are immediately recognized by your skin. Unlike many cosmetic products, our labels tell you exactly what you are putting on your skin. Nothing more, nothing less. 

 

2. What do you look for in the products you design that fits your values?

Organic, personalized, simple and contemporary. These are concepts and values we believe in. We believe that products should be natural and pure. We start with a simple and clean formulation of high quality organic oils that go into our products. We believe every person is unique and hence deserves a unique solution. So we let them personalize our products. Finally, we package our products in clean, functional and beautiful designs.

 

3. What do the following terms mean for you (brief description

 – Clean

– Organic

– Natural

– Sustainable

– Ethical 

 

All these terms, I am hoping, will convert to standard norms of the cosmetic industry in the foreseeable future. It should also become the mission of beauty brands to raise awareness on each one of these and help the consumer understand that there ‘are’ choices they can make. I have no doubt that every brand’s goal is to become more sustainable, however it has to be said with current cost and availability options we will need to be more patient. At Fiedler’s Apotheke we believe it is no longer good enough for cosmetic products to “smell nice” or promise to make you look good. We believe it matters what is inside of the product and how the product was created, i.e. in a way that respects nature and values our bodies as natural extensions of nature.

 

5. What do you feel most grateful for?

The past year has been full of incredible challenges for all of us. But it has also been a year that reminded us to cultivate the habit of being grateful for the simple things in life starting with health, family and friends. Speaking for myself, it has helped me gain a new perspective on life. I have to say it is less complicated to weigh what really matters these days.

 

6. Any new projects for 2021?

That all depends a bit on what 2021 has in store for us. We live in a time of lots of uncertainties that are creating stress and anxiety for many people in the world.  As Fiedler’s Apotheke we believe in times like these it is all the more important to focus on our well-being, to take care of ourselves and our loved ones, to re-energize and re-charge so we can focus on the challenges that lie ahead. Fiedler’s Apotheke is not only a brand but also a life stance and attitude (Weltanschauung) for those who challenge traditional choices and ask for more. And this means we like to listen to our users and find unique, “different” solutions to body care issues and needs. In terms of our current product ideas, a personalized organic facial mist and hand & body soap are on our to-do-list for 2021.
